The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will debut sometime next year. Most sources believe its premiere will take place at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Official details about the new model are scarce; however, not much is left unknown about the upcoming redesign. This is thanks to the two videos which can be found online and which show the new model and almost all its aspects. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class looks more attractive and modern now and should come with some interesting changes concerning its structure and powertrain. If we take all the pieces of information we know so far into account, we believe it is safe to say that the redesigned 2017 E-Class is going to be an even more successful model than its current counterpart.
2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Exterior Redesign
As you can see on the photos here, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will come with quite a redesigned exterior. The new sedan will now look more modern and assertive. The changes are obvious, especially if you take a look at the headlights. In addition, the new model does come with recognizable Mercedes-Benz design, but its new shape and style are more serene and elegant. The powerful stance was carried over from the latter model, but the overall feel of the sedan is more sophisticated and not so aggressive anymore.
New Improved Underpinning
One of the most important changes on the new 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is certainly its new underpinning. The new sedan is going to be underpinned by a new MRA platform. The acronym in the name stands for Modular Rear Architecture. This platform is made mostly out of aluminum, so its impact on the weight reduction should be great. The platform is very sturdy and tough, so don’t worry, the aluminum use didn’t affect the quality of the product. In fact, the new MRA platform should improve the sedan’s performance quite a bit, especially when it comes to fuel economy, agility and precision.
The new MRA platform is very versatile; it will be used not only for the new E-Class, but also for some other models with different wheelbases and engine options.
2017 E-Class Interior Design
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a fully redesigned model. Therefore, due to its vast changes in exterior design and structure, most sources expected a fully redesigned cabin, as well. However, is seems that the new model will not be featuring and innovative and one of a kind interior. Instead, it will come with a borrowed design which was already used on the S-Class. This doesn’t mean that the new model will lack in style, comfort or equipment, it just means that there should not be many surprises here. On the videos and photos we currently have of the new model, the interior is still a bit of a mystery, but you can easily spot the S-Class’ dashboard.
2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Powertrain Speculations
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is expected to come with a wide array of engines offered. According to some sources, the new luxury sedan will offer three-, four- and six-cylinder mills which should cover most of the buyers’ wishes. In addition, the 2017 E-Class AMG model should be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that should generate around 600 horsepower.
As for the transmission, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class should use a new nine-speed automatic gearbox. It seems like there is not going to be offered any other transmission than this.
Possible Premiere Date
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class should have its premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, though this hasn’t been confirmed yet. Some sources think that the new sedan might even debut in January at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. We should wait a bit more for an official announcement, though.
