The 2017 Audi A4 will be released next year. The new model is fully redesigned and presents the ninth generation of the popular sedan. The new 2017 A4 will come with improved exterior design, revised platform and a lot of new gadgets. However, the focus of the new model isn’t on its equipment or appearance. The 2017 Audi A4 will now offer a diesel unit for the American market, thus being the first model of the sedan with such an offer. How will the audience receive this innovation and will it contribute to better sales figures remains to be seen. Nevertheless, the new 2017 A4 will be an excellent sedan with recognizable style and superb specs, regardless of its powertrain setup.
Engine Options for 2017 Audi A4
The new 2017 Audi A4 will offer two engine options on the U.S.-market, one gasoline and one diesel. The first unit is a turbocharged 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder that can generate 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.
The second engine is the diesel unit. The 2017 Audi A4 offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel mill which can generate 190 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Though some of you might think that this mill is weak, let us remind you it is the first, and the only, diesel engine offered with this sedan. Also, it should provide more than satisfactory performance (the new model is more than 200 pounds lighter than the previous) and it will also be paired into a rather interesting powertrain setup.
2017 Audi A4 Powertrain Setups Offered
The 2017 Audi A4 will offer both the Quattro all-wheel drive and the front-wheel drive mode. The first option will be offered with both the engines and the first units will all come with this mode. The FWD will be offered a few months after the release of the Quattro models.
In addition, the new 2017 Audi A4 will come with the seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission. This gearbox is the only one announced, meaning there is no information about the possible CVT. However, some sources claim it is possible that the new sedan will also offer the six-speed manual transmission, though this is all speculation. For the time being, the S-Tronic is the only gearbox certain to be offered with the new model.
