The 2017 Acura MDX debuted at the 2016 New York Auto Show, stealing the spotlight and winning the hearts of the audience with its new perks. The new model was restyled and updated, making its current offer more than amazing. To start with, the 2017 Acura MDX now comes with a sharper, more aggressive appearance. The new luxury SUV offers not just good looks, though. Its cabin holds a lot of new gadgets and safety apps, even as a standard equipment. However, even though these changes are really great, they are not the most important ones. The 2017 Acura MDX will now come with a hybrid powertrain, as well, thus becoming the third model of the Acura family with such a setup. The new, green version of the 2017 MDX is said to come with even better performance than the conventional counterpart, which means that the new 2017 Acura MDX hybrid will be something rather striking on the market.
2017 Acura MDX Exterior & Interior Updates
The 2017 Acura MDX had its exterior refreshed. The changes are inspired by a more menacing-looking concept, the Acura Precision Concept. The new SUV features a diamond pentagon grille, more angular and edgier shape and a sharper LED headlights. In addition, the new model also got a restyled bumper and new dual exhaust pipes to go with it. The 2017 Acura MDX now looks assertive, modern and more luxurious than before.
As for the interior, the 2017 Acura MDX kept its smooth and elegant style. The new cabin, however, has been upgraded with numerous gadgets, especially when it comes to safety. The SUV now offers systems such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and much more. Standard equipment also includes Auto High Beams and Electric Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold. As for the other equipment, the 2017 MDX offers SiriusXM Radio and four USB ports to those who chose standard packages, while the buyers who prefer more luxurious trims can expand this list even further.
New Hybrid Powertrain
The 2017 Acura MDX now becomes the third Acura model with the hybrid powertrain. The Sport Hybrid system uses a 3.0-liter V6 unit and one electric motor at the front and two more electric motors at the rear axle. The system is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (7DCT). The new powertrain setup should be able to generate 325 horsepower, which is more than what the conventional 2017 MDX offers. In addition, the new hybrid SUV is estimated to deliver 25 miles per gallon in the city and 26 mpg highway or combined. The new all-wheel drive hybrid system thus has an increase of 7 mpg/city compared to the current, conventional model.
The 2017 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid will be available with Technology and Advance packages. Both of the aforementioned add Active Sport Suspension system to the Comfort, Normal, Sport and, exclusive to Sport Hybrid models, the new Sport+ mode.
After the premiere at the 2016 NY Auto Show, the new 2017 Acura MDX is scheduled to go on sales this summer. The 2017 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid should be available at the dealer’s showrooms later in the year.
