The 2016 Toyota Avalon will have its debut at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. The new model will be redesigned and should attract more buyers than before. Although there is still some time left until the premiere of the sedan, the manufacturer decided to play with our minds and release a teaser image. Judging by the not-so-revealing photo, the new 2016 Toyota Avalon will look much more modern and impressive than before. The front end, showed on the said photo, got numerous new changes. Also, the manufacturer announced that similar changes will take place throughout the model’s exterior, while the interior will only be refreshed. As for the powertrain, there is no official information regarding which units will the 2016 Toyota Avalon use, but of course, there are plenty of rumors. Although we do not know at the moment just how good the new model will be, we are sure it will not disappoint.
New 2016 Toyota Avalon Exterior Design
The 2016 Toyota Avalon will come with a brand new, redesigned appearance. The new model is yet to be presented to the audience, but this teaser image might help us get a better picture of it. As you can see in this dimmed image, the front end suffered quite a lot of changes. There is a new trapezoidal grille, narrow LED headlights and really wicked LED fog lights. The new design changes resemble those seen on the new Corolla Special Edition and Camry, which will too be presented at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Though the side look and the rear end can’t be seen on the photo, most sources agree that they should come with similar changes. The 2016 Toyota Avalon looks much sportier and more aggressive. The new exterior is bold, sharp and modern – quite an impressive work. Also, the 2016 Avalon is said to come as shorter and wider sedan than the current model. That will improve its stance and stability, and it will also offer more space for the passengers.
Rumors about Interior
At this point, there is no official information about the interior of the 2016 Toyota Avalon. However, some sources claim that the new cabin will only be slightly refreshed, with some smaller details improved and changed. Others, however, think that such a big exterior redesign as this one is deserves the same interior design. It looks like we will simply have to wait for the model’s premiere to find out who was right. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that the new 2016 Toyota Avalon will come fully-equipped, as every Toyota does.
2016 Toyota Avalon Powertrain Speculations
Most of the car enthusiasts believe that the new 2016 Toyota Avalon will carry over its current powertrain setups. Truth be told, it does come with such a good performance, there is really no need for changes. On the other hand, the current units might be tuned up to provide better performance of perhaps better fuel economy. However, we shouldn’t expect new engines. The current Toyota Avalon uses a 3.5-liter V6 mill that can generate 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and returns 21 mpg/city and 31 mpg/highway. The 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid will probably keep the current 2.5-liter Atkinson engine that produces 200 horsepower and the current electric motor.
2016 Toyota Avalon: Expected Price
The 2016 Toyota Avalon should keep its price in the current price range. Given that its changes are mostly cosmetic, the new model isn’t expected to cost much more than $33,000. The current model’s price tag is at $32,285.
