By | 07/19/2014

The 2016 Scion FR-S will be presented at the Tokyo Motor Show scheduled later this year. The new model will not represent a full redesign, but it will bring some novelties which will, we are sure, make any car fan smile. To start with, the biggest improvement made on this car is the fact that it will now offer both coupe and convertible body type. The new convertible will have amazing exterior and it will appeal to those who have a thing for such extravagance. In addition, the new model will have its appearance improved, though you shouldn’t expect any big changes. Instead, the 2016 FR-S will have only mild updates, while keeping its basic design intact. On the other hand, these small tweaks and changes will give the car a new feel, making it more modern and competent. Moreover, the new model will have its interior redesigned as well, while the powertrain will keep the current engine lineup with an additional unit. However, the engines will be tuned up and improved, so we cannot say that the car will stay as it is. All these small updates will result in essentially improved and better vehicle than the current model is. In addition, all of the changes made on the 2016 Scion FR-S will be translated to its counterparts, the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT-86. This means we can already tell what those models will look like and how good their performance will be.

2016 Scion FR-S Update

2016 Scion FR-S Comes With Improved Exterior

The 2016 Scion FR-S will have a new body type, the convertible version. This is the most important news about this redesign and it will certainly attract more buyers. The exterior of the new model will be improved in comparison to the current model’s appearance, meaning that the new car will have a more aggressive and dominant look. The 2016 FR-S will have a well-sculptured and masculine body shape, with amazing restyled headlights and slightly changed body lines. The side look will be fluent and sound. The new model will have improved aerodynamics and its body will be made by using a vast amount of carbon fibers, so it is expected that the new model will weigh less. These two changes will improve the car’s performance, as well as its agility, handling, and most importantly, fuel economy.

Engine Options And Hybrid Powertrain

The 2016 Scion FR-S will have a new engine, which will be the most powerful one offered. Currently, there are no reports mentioning which unit that might be, but given that the new model received body changes, new huge air intakes and a new exhaust system in order to properly work with the new mill, we are sure that no choice could let us down. In addition, one of the engines that should be offered with the new FR-S should be the 2.0-liter inline-four engine that can deliver 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. Also, some sources claim that the new model will also offer a hybrid powertrain as well. It is said that the 2016 Scion FR-S Hybrid will probably be powered by a 2.5-liter boxer engine and an electric motor. The hybrid version of the model will not be released next year, as its development will take longer than the conventional model will. It is expected that it will be available a year after the official release.

2016 Scion FR-S Price And Release

Both coupe and convertible versions of the 2016 Scion FR-S will have their premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show.
