The 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera will come with some interesting changes. Though the new model will not be radically redesigned, it will be updated enough to interest even the pickiest buyers. The new Carrera will come with a refreshed exterior and interior, whose changes will be mild, but noticeable. The new model will look more modern and fierce, but it will base its design on the current lines and curves. However, these changes will not be the most important thing on the new Carrera. That place belongs to its powertrain. Reportedly, the new model will have an improved powertrain. The current engine lineup will be changed with the turbocharged engines of smaller or the same displacement, which will provide much more fun and better performance. These units will also come with a perk of reduces emissions, which is another great news. As for the Turbo models, the sources say that those two will not receive an update this time, but it is possible that they will be improved soon, too.
2016 Porsche 911 Carrera Engine Changes
The 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera will have a somewhat changed engine lineup. Instead of a current 3.4-liter flat-six unit, there will be a new mill. It will be a 2.9-liter turbocharged flat-six, which will provide more power than the latter regardless of its smaller displacement. The new unit will generate around 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, while the naturally aspired 3.4-liter unit could produce “only” 350 horsepower. The new engine will surely impress all the Carrera fans, as it will surely provide better experience and more fun during the drive.
2016 Porsche 911 Carrera S With Turborcharger

Turbo Models Will Probably Get Hybrid Powertrains
The 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo and Turbo S models will currently be left without the changes. However, there are rumors which claim that these models will get a hybrid powertrain which will improve their performance. This improvement probably won’t happen on time for the 2016 model release, but it should come with the following generation. The current Porsche 911 Turbo with hybrid powertrain generates 520 horsepower, so the new Carrera Turbo models should be at least this powerful.
As for the 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera GT3, it will come with its current engine intact. However, this doesn’t mean that it will remain the same. Reportedly, although this model will not receive a turbocharger, its performance will still be improved by some other methods. The 2016 GT3 should come with a lighter body and some tuning which will provide better performance and more thrill for its drivers.
