The 2016 Nissan Titan XD just had its premiere at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, which started yesterday. The all-new full-size truck should be available late this summer and will be the first of the Titans to be released. The XD model is the sturdiest of all the Titans and represents a really interesting and special addition to the market. The new model is meant for all those who need more than a light-duty pickup truck, but doesn’t need a full heavy-duty deal. The powertrain of the new model will offer only one engine at the start, but more units should be added up to the lineup later on. Appearance & General Specs
The 2016 Nissan Titan XD comes with a brand new exterior design. The model was fully restyled in order to fit the American taste. That means that the old look, which was long overdue for a redesign, is replaced with a more modern and aggressive version of itself. In addition, there a optional features which can make it look more to your taste, such as a wide array of wheels offered, going from 17 inches all the way to 20-inch wheels.
In addition, the new 2016 Titan XD will come with a sturdier body compared to other Titans. It will feature an all-steel body with coil-sprung independent front suspension and a solid rear axle. The new model will come with a four-door crew cab and a 6.5-foot cargo bed. Other dimensions are 78.7 inches height, 80.6 inches width and 242.9 inches length. After the release, the model should also offer three bed lengths depending on which cab you’ve chosen – standard, crew or extended.
Technology & Safety
The 2016 Nissan Titan XD will be fully equipped. Aside from the standard equipment which nowadays comes with basically every model, the new Titan will also feature some interesting systems, such as Around View Monitor, Rearview Monitor with Trailer Guides, Moving Object Detection, Trailer Light Check system, and many others. There will even be some rather unique gadgets, such as Rear Sonar System and Zero Gravity seats, inspired by the NASA technology.
2016 Nissan Titan XD Powertrain & Performance
The 2016 Nissan Titan XD will offer only one unit once it is released, while others should be added up soon after. The entry unit will be a 5.0-liter V8 Cummins turbodiesel engine which can generate 310 horsepower and astonishing 555 lb-ft of torque. The payload ratings are at 2,000, while the towing maximum is 12,000 pounds. The 2016 XD will use Aisin six-speed automatic transmission, which will be used only with this model, and will offer both the two-wheel and the four-wheel drive. After the release, the new model will offer gasoline engine, which will consist of V6 and V8 mills, whose specs will be known later on.
After its premiere at the 2015 NAIAS, the 2016 Nissan Titan XD will be released by the end of next summer. Prices, however, haven’t been announced yet. The model will come with five grade levels.
