The 2016 Mazda CX-3 will have its premiere at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. Currently, the new model is in the center of the automotive audience’s attention due to the teaser image the manufacturer released upon the model’s debut. The new subcompact crossover will be design in a similar way as other Mazda models, but it will also come with a spirit of its own. Since the new model will have a tough competition, which includes Nissan Juke and Chevy Trax, for example, the manufacturer decided to use the well-known techniques and technologies in development of the new model. Therefore, the new model could be received as warmly as any other Mazda, since these methods have all proven to be well-perceived. The new model will, therefore, be designed using the Kodo design language, which is used for all Mazda models. Also, it will be developed by using the SKYACTIV technology, which is a series of technological solutions that all improve the car’s performance. With all this being said, there is no doubt that the new 2016 Mazda CX-3 will be an excellent vehicle and a great addition to the existing Mazda lineup. Although the manufacturer is trying to keep everything about the new subcompact crossover hidden before the premiere, we managed to find out a bit about the new model.
2016 Mazda CX-3 Bodywork
The 2016 Mazda CX-3 will be designed using the famous Kodo design language. Though the exact design is kept as a secret at the moment, there are some clues to what it might look like. Judging by the tease image, it seems like the new model will have quite an attractive appearance. At the front, it seems that the new model will follow the current design trend that is used for all Mazda SUVs. The new crossover will, therefore, feature a large and dominant grille at the front, which will be placed between angular and wicked headlights. The body line will be smooth, though it might be a bit changed when compared to this image. Here, the model looks like a coupe, but we expect the production version to look more aggressive and bulky, while at the same time keeping the body line fluent and sleek. Due to the SKYACTIV technology, the body shape will surely be very aerodynamic, which will have a positive impact on the model’s performance and fuel efficiency. The new 2016 Mazda CX-3 will probably look a bit different than you can see on the teaser image, but it will surely be stunning and attractive.
The 2016 Mazda CX-3 will be made by using the famous Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology. This term refers to all sorts of development solutions: from the aerodynamic exterior design, to platform and body development to the engines used for the models. The SKYACTIV technology has for a goal efficient and reliable vehicle. That will be the case with this new subcompact crossover, too. The new model will also come with SKYACTIV engines. There will be a 1.5-liter SKYACTIV-D diesel unit which will have an impressive fuel economy. Another engine option will be a turbocharged 1.3-liter gasoline four-cylinder unit, and there will be a 2.0-liter naturally aspired gasoline mill which will produce 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The 2016 Mazda CX-3 will surely come with a front-wheel drive, but it is rumored that the new crossover will also offer an all-wheel drive.
