2016 Mazda CX-3 Features — Handsome Subcompact Crossover

By | 11/22/2014

The 2016 Mazda CX-3 just had its premiere at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new CUV is made to fill the gap between the Mazda2, which is a hatchback, and the Mazda CX-5, a SUV, so naturally, it has a lot in common with these two models. Its design is fresh, innovative and modern, just like with any Mazda model, and its specs are really interesting. The new model will be underpinned by the Mazda2 platform, and it will come with lots of new technologies. Needless to say it will incorporate SKYACTIV technology in more or less any aspect of its development, especially in its engines. Speaking of which, the new CX-5 will offer a couple of unit to choose from, but the USA market will only offer the gasoline one, while the diesel will be offer in Europe in some other parts of the world as one of the options. Like every Mazda, the new 2016 Mazda CX-3 will be innovative, futuristic and stunning, and we are sure it will be tough competitor once it hits the showrooms. The new CUV should be released next summer.

2016 Mazda CX-3 Appearance

The 2016 Mazda CX-3 will truly have a stunning appearance. The new model’s design will be similar to the one seen on the concept, though we cannot say they will look the same. Usually, the production versions are less impressive and bold than the concept ones, but in this case, the manufacturer really surprised us. The new CX-3 looks fantastic. Its front end features a large, dominant grille, while the bumpers, headlights and air intakes are similar to those seen on the Mazda CX-5. In fact, the new CX-3 looks like a smaller version of the aforementioned SUV. The fact that it is smaller in size only makes it look more attractive. The design is mostly based on the famous Kodo design language, but the new CUV really stands out. Its compact and robust body is very fluent and aerodynamic, with sharp edges and wicked curves. The entire design looks very aggressive and dominant, but it is also well-balanced and constructed. In our mind, the 2016 Mazda CX-3 is one of the most beautiful models in its market niche, if not even wider, and its design is flawless and timeless. Years from now, the 2016 CUV would still look as fascinating as it does today, regardless of the fact how quickly the design trends change.

Interior, Gadgets and Systems

As for the interior, the 2016 Mazda CX-3 will come with the cabin that will be designed in a similar manner as all the Mazda cabins. The interior is cozy, comfortable and elegant, with a lot of high-end details. As it is the case with all Mazdas, the CX-3 will also come fully-equipped with the latest technology gadgets. Aside from the standard Mazda Connect infotainment system, audio system, climate control etc, the new CUV will also come with numerous safety features. Some of them are frontal collision warning, lane departure warning and blind-spot detection, which are all integrated in the i-Activsense system.

2016 Mazda CX-3 Engine, Transmission and Drive

The 2016 U.S.-spec Mazda CX-3 will come with only one gasoline engine offered. It will be the 2.0-liter four-cylinder SKYACTIV-G unit that can generate 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. However, this data refers to the current use of the engine; under the hood of the CX-3, it might even produce more power. The engine also comes with decent performance and superb fuel economy, given that it is developed using the SKYACTIV technology. In addition, other markets will probably have a few more gasoline engines to choose from, as well as a 1.5-liter four-cylinder SKYACTIV-D diesel mill. The 2016 U.S.-spec Mazda CX-3 will come with a six-speed automatic gearbox only, but it will offer both the front- and all-wheel drive.
