By | 12/20/2014

The 2016 Lincoln MKX will have its premiere at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The new production model will be heavily based on its concept counterpart, which was presented this year at the Beijing Auto Show. Although the exact appearance of the mid-size crossover is unknown at the time, there are some rumors and spy photos which show that the production model will look almost exactly like the aforementioned concept. This is a bit unusual move, but it is surely good news – the crossover will certainly look amazing. In addition, the interior of the new model will also be very elegant and packed full with some interesting features. The cabin is also very comfortable and cozy, and the organization inside the vehicle is perfect. As for the powertrain, the 2016 Lincoln MKX will offer couple of engine, all of which will be Ford’s EcoBoost units. The mills will be powerful enough to provide smooth and fun drive, but also very fuel efficient at the same time. All in all, the new mid-size crossover should make an impact on its market niche and rightfully win a big piece of the market as one of the most popular models offered.

Stunning & Avant-garde Exterior Design

The redesigned 2016 Lincoln MKX will have amazing appearance. Its exterior design will be based on the concept counterpart, as we mentioned earlier. Judging by some rumors and speculations, not much will be different between these two models. This is a bit unusual, since most of the production vehicles resemble the concept counteparts, but are not as aggressive and futuristic as the latter. However, it seems like that won’t be the case with the new MKX. The mid-size crossover will look really modern. Its design is so fascinating and extraordinary that you can either love it or hate it, there is no way you can be indiferent about it. The shape of the new crossover resembles a bit the compact crossover MKC. However, the two models will not be similar. The body of the MKX seems a bit robust and bulky, but it is actually very sophisticated and refined. The details on the crossover, such as LED headlights and taillights and ”split-wing” grille, for example, will follow the general design cues used by the Lincoln, but the overall exterior will simply be stunning and rather unique. The model might have some elements in common with other Lincoln models, but it will surely stand out from the rest of the crossovers in its market niche.

Cabin Design & Possible Equipment

As for the interior, the 2016 Lincoln MKX will have an elegant and refined cabin. The new cabin will be similar to those that come with other Lincoln models and it will be fully equipped. The new model will feature the newest generation of the MyLincoln Touch infotainment system with a large touchscreen. This hasn’t been confirmed yet, though, so we are still hoping that the manufacturer will install the brand-new SYNC 3 system instead, which would be a nice change and a better option for the model. Also, there will be some other luxurious and fun features, such as a high-end Revel Audio system which comes with up to 19 speakers.

As you can conclude, the entry level will surely come with a four-cylinder engine, but the exact displacement of the mill is still a secret. In addition, the 2016 Lincoln MKX will also offer a more powerful unit. That will probably be a 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine.
