The 2016 Kia Rio will be released next year. The new model of this popular subcompact vehicle will be a carryover, even though there are a lot of sources claiming that the 2016 model will represent a full-scale redesign. Unfortunately, that will not happen this time, so we will have to wait a bit more for a full change. However, this is not bad news at all. The Kia Rio is an excellent car as it is, with modern and contemporary exterior, more than well-equipped cabin and a decent powertrain. The 2016 model will have some of these aspects improved, but don’t expect anything drastic. The refresh that the 2016 Rio will suffer is still kept as a secret, so we are unsure of its exact details and proportions. Despite this fact, there are some things we can say they’ll be changed for sure, and there are also a lot of semi-reliable rumors. The sure change will happen on the outside, as the new car will have a redesigned front fascia. In addition, there could be some interior changes and upgrades, while the powertrain should remain more or less unchanged, but we believe that it will suffer certain improvements, which would help Rio stay competent and interesting for the buyers in the future, as the competition gets tougher and tougher.
2016 Kia Rio Altered Exterior
The 2016 Kia Rio will have its exterior altered. The new model will have new redesigned front fascia, while its body shape and dimensions should stay the same. There should be some other styling changes which will make the car look more modern and dominant, though we don’t expect the changes to diverge from the current design language. It is common to see new and interesting details on the models that do not represent serious redesigns, or only have mild improvement, as that’s the way of keeping the customers interested. So, naturally, we expect Kia to do the same and improve the exterior of the 2016 Rio in order to make appearance of offering something new. In addition, the Rio will keep both sedan and hatchback versions, and it will be offered in three trim levels: LX, EX and SX. As for the interior, the current Kia Rio is so well-equipped that we see no way of improving it without stepping out of the buyer’s budgets or its market segment. However, there might be some cosmetics upgrades, perhaps some new interior colors etc. All in all, we are sure that the new model will keep its recognizable innovative and appealing look we are all used to and that it will offer all the comfort, leisure and safety one might need.
Powertrain Of 2016 Kia Rio
The 2016 Kia Rio will probably keep its current powertrain. There are some changes about power output increase as well as some other performance tuning, but they are all still unconfirmed. The 2016 Rio should use a 1.6-liter inline-four engine that generates 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque. These numbers might go up, but if they don’t, this is a decent offer for a car this size and class. In addition, there are rumors about possible improvements regarding handling, steering and suspension, which would, of true, make a huge difference. We are keeping our fingers crossed. As for the transmission, the standard one will be a six-speed manual transmission, while SX and EX trims will have the optional six-speed automatic gearbox offered, as well. There could be some changes in this area, too, but like we said, all that is just speculations.
2016 Kia Rio Release Date
The 2016 Kia Rio will be released sometime next year. Since there is so little information about the redesign and its scale, it is too soon to make any estimations regarding the new model’s price tag. On the other hand, since the model is a carryover, and given the fact that the competition is getting pretty hard for it, we do not expect the new model to cost significantly more than the current model. With this in mind, we expect the 2016 Kia Rio to stay within the range of the current car’s price.
