The 2016 Infiniti QX50 had its official North American debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show, while its global premiere took place in China some time ago. The new crossover comes somewhat redesigned, with some new and interesting features which should improve its sales. Truth be told, the current model didn’t have much success on the market so far, so the manufacturer is trying their best to attract more buyers with new and more impressive CUV. The 2016 Infiniti QX50 will feature slightly improved exterior design, which will more or less follow the current Infiniti design trend, a rather improved interior in terms of both the equipment and comfort and an unchanged powertrain setup. This being said, it seems that the new 2016 QX50 only got a smaller update rather than a serious redesign, but we are hoping this will be enough to get the model going. Perhaps the manufacturer is scared that all is lost with this crossover, or they believe these tweaks will be enough to prove that the model is a true luxury crossover. Either way, the time will tell what future holds for the Infiniti’s smallest crossover.
New Refreshed Appearance
The exterior of the 2016 Infiniti QX50 comes with some minor updates. The model did get a facelift, but we can’t say the changes are drastic. They are simply a way to modernize the crossover and make it look more like the rest of the Nissan’s luxury brand. The majority of changes occurred at the front end, where there is now a revised grille, improved front fascia and new LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights. The side mirror turn signal also got an LED treatment, and the side look is also improved with 19-inch wheels. In addition, the rear end was also modified, featuring for example a new rear bumper, but its changes aren’t that obvious. The new exterior, however, now resembles the Q70 and Q50 design and is more modern and attractive than before.
2016 Infiniti QX50 Interior Improvements
The 2016 Infiniti QX50 will come with a significantly improved interior. To start with, the new crossover comes with a 3.2 inches longer wheelbase, meaning it will feature a much more comfortable cabin. The wheelbase increase resulted in 8.3 cubic feet bigger interior volume, as well as a 2.7 inches larger cargo space. Also, the new rear legroom is now much more spacious, offering a new 4.3 inches larger legroom. As for the design, the new 2016 QX50 comes with a more or less unchanged cabin appearance compared to the current model.
Technology & Gadgets
The 2016 Infiniti QX50 will come with some equipment changes as well, though not all the details about it are known at this moment. What we do know, however, is that the new crossover will offer a new Around View Monitor system and thus will be the first Infiniti model to offer this piece of the technology. Analog to this we should expect even more advanced systems offered with the new model.
2016 Infiniti QX50 Powertrain Setup
The 2016 Infiniti QX50 will come with unchanged powertrain setup. That means it will be powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine that can generate 325 horsepower and which will be connected to the seven-speed automatic gearbox. Also, the powertrain will feature an Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system.
Release Date & Price Estimation
The 2016 Infiniti QX50 release date hasn’t been announced yet, but the model will surely be available this fall as a 2016 model. The pricing is also unknown, though widely speculated. According to some sources, the new 2016 Infiniti QX50 will cost more or less as much as the current model, so the price increase is unexpected, or in worst case scenario, the price will be slightly increased.
