The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR has been presented and the new racing car is simply stunning. This model will be the most powerful Viper built so far, and it will also present a serious threat to all other models in its market niche. The 2016 Viper ACR will be powered by a massive V10 unit which will have a rather high power output, but the engine itself will not be enough to ensure the dominance of this street-legal racing beast on the road. It is some bold and advanced technological solutions that will provide the performance worthy of this name. Let’s take a look at the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR.
Engine Specs & Performance
Let’s start with the basics. The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR will be powered by a hand-built 8.4-liter V10 engine that can generate 645 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. This is five horsepower more than what the regular Viper offers. However, it is also five horsepower less than what the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has to offer. However, the mere fact that the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR produces itsy-bitsy less ponies than the aforementioned rival doesn’t mean it comes with worse performance – that’s where some rather fun details come in.
2016 Dodge Viper ACR Aerodynamics, Downforce, Brakes & Other Specs
To start with, the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR comes with better aerodynamics than the aforementioned Corvette Z06. It comes with adjustable rear wing, diffuser, front splitter, new hood and dive planes which together provide an insane downforce of 2,200 pounds at the model’s maximum speed of 177 mph. In addition, the performance of this racing machine is further more improved with weight reduction. The manufacturer used carbon fiber wherever possible without, of course, compromising the safety and stability. In fact, they took this weight-reduction job so seriously that the car comes with lightweight carpets, only three speakers for audio system and seats without electric features.
Let’s move on to brakes and tires. The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR comes with Kumho Ecsta V720 tires that were designed exclusively for this car. The 19-inch wheels also feature Carbon Ceramic Matrix 15.4-inch two-piece front rotors, 14.2-inch two-peace rear rotors and six-piston Brembo calipers on the front wheels, while the rear brakes have four-piston calipers.
The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR also comes with superb suspension. The new model uses adjustable Bilstein racing shocks, 1.4 degrees more negative camber compared to the entry level SRT’s version and unique race alignment. All these details plus the 50/50 weight distribution provide the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR with more than 1.5g while sharp cornering at high speeds.
However, if you think that the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is all about the speed and nothing else, you are partially wrong. Yes, everything in the car is submitted to its performance, but there are also some parts with are more driver-focused. Namely, the new 2016 Viper ACR comes with ‘1 on 1’ customization program, which means that the model can be customized to suit the buyer’s exact wishes, as this program offers more than 25 million combinations.
The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR will be released in the third quarter of this year. The price is currently unknown, but it should be announced soon.
