The 2016 Chevy Equinox had its premiere at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. One of the most successful Chevrolet models comes only a bit redesigned in order to attract more buyers and still keep its famous style and attitude. The new 2016 Equinox offers new, refreshed exterior design which now looks more modern and attractive. The designers also decided to improve the interior of the crossover; the 2016 Chevy Equinox now offers a more comfortable cabin, upscale materials and some changes in its equipment offer. The new crossover will, therefore, come with a bit more gadgets offered as standard compared to the current model. In addition, the 2016 Chevy Equinox will keep its current powertrain, which provides more than enough power to move the vehicle and also comes with superb fuel economy and great maneuverability. The new 2016 Chevy Equinox will, in addition, come with a bit changed trim offer – it will now be available in four trim levels: L, LS, LT, and LTZ. The fully-redesigned Equinox is speculated to come in a year or two.
The 2016 Chevy Equinox has received a mild facelift. In our opinion, it didn’t need one, but this way, the new model will keep the Equinox looking modern and up-to-date until the release of the next generation. The front end holds most of the changes. The 2016 Equinox features a restyled grille, new headlights and running lights as well as a bit changed bumper. The more upscale LT and LTZ trims come with full LED headlights, while the LTZ trim also features new fog lights. In addition, the rear end has been changed, too, and now holds restyled taillights. All the trims comes with a choice of 17- or 18-inch wheels which complete the new modern and assertive look.
2016 Chevrolet Equinox Interior Changes
The interior of the 2016 Chevy Equinox has also been improved. The new crossover now features a revised center stack as well as more quality materials. In addition, there have been some changes concerning the level of equipment. Therefore, the L and LS trims now come with a standard 7-inch Color Touch Radio, rear-view camera and Bluetooth connectivity. In addition, all the trims are offered in a new color, called the Saddle Up, and feature a new storage shelf. The LT and LTZ trims can be ordered with Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic, which are not standard equipment and come at an extra cost. All trims feature OnStar system with 4G LTE connectivity.
2016 Chevy Equinox: No Powertrain Changes
The 2016 Chevy Equinox will be powered with the same powertran setups as before. Therefore, it will offer a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that can generate 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque as standard, while the second, more advanced choice will be a 3.6-liter V6 engine (that comes with chromed exhaust tips) which can generate 301 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come with six-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel drive is standard, while the LS, LT and LTZ trims can be purchased with the all-wheel drive mode at an extra cost.
The 2016 Chevy Equinox will be released this fall. Pricing should be announced later this year.
