The 2016 Chevrolet Spark will be released in the first half of the next year. With the release date so close due, it is a bit strange that there aren’t more reports about the new generation of this subcompact hatchback. After all, the Spark is rather popular worldwide, and its fourth generation deserves a bit more attention. Maybe the audience lost their interest, or they don’t expect anything new. But that’s where they are wrong. The 2016 Chevy Spark is going to bring some fantastic new features. At the first glance, they may not look as big and innovative, since the design will not be drastically changed, but mind you, looks can be deceiving. The real redesign will be kept under the hood of the hatchback. Reportedly, the new 2016 Spark will come with great new powertrain specs, new engines and much better performance. The units will be more powerful, but they will also have better fuel economy. As for the 2016 Chevy Spark EV, there isn’t much information about it, but similar changes are expected for it as well. As for the appearance, the new Chevy Spark will look aggressive and bold, but the design changes will not be as drastic as the powertrain ones.
2016 Chevrolet Spark Exterior & Interior Updates
Like we mentioned before, the 2016 Chevy Spark will come with a refreshed and new style. The exact appearance of the new model is still unknown, but according to some rumors, the new exterior design will be a logical sequence to the current one. This means that the new model will not come with a drastic appearance change, but it will only take its current look and redo it in a more modern and aggressive way. With this being said we believe that the new subcompact hatchback will look attractive and fun, following the popular automotive trends. As for the interior, the 2016 Chevrolet Spark will come with a bit tuned up cabin design and the latest version of the MyLink infotainment system. Also, the new model will be completely equipped with other entertainment and safety systems.
New Powertrain Specs
The most important change on the 2016 Chevrolet Spark will be its powertrain. The new model is said to come with much better performance and fuel economy. Let us remind you, the current model is using a 1.25-liter four-cylinder unit that generates 84 horsepower. The 2016 Spark will, however, use a different mill instead of this one. The base engine will be a turbocharged 1.0-liter EcoTec three-cylinder mill that can generate 90 horsepower. The higher trims will use the same unit, only it will be tuned up to 115 horsepower. This power output increase will improve the performance, and the smaller displacement will reduce the fuel consumption. Another offered unit will be a turbocharged 1.4-liter EcoTec four-cylinder unit, whose power output is currently unknown. As for the 2016 Chevy Spark EV, its specs are currently unknown, but according to some sources, the new model will come with improved driving range and better batteries. The current Spark EV uses a 21-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and its driving range is set at 82 miles.
2016 Chevy Spark Release Date & Expected Price
The 2016 Chevrolet Spark will be released by the summer of the next year. As for the price, there is no official announcement yet, but some source claim that the new model will come with only slightly increased price tag.
