The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will be released during next year. Since its appearance in the dealership showrooms has yet to come, not all the details are known about the redesign. However, some reliable sources bring us information saying that the new model will feature important changes. Firstly, the new model will have a completely new exterior design. It is said to be more modern and stylish, with more elegant and refines appearance than the one you see on the photos below as they present the current model. The 2016 Malibu still has its wraps on, but judging by some leaks and the shape the camouflage is trying to hide, the new model will be more beautiful and bigger than its predecessor. Secondly, the new model will have its performance improved. Not only will the sedan have better specs while using the current engines, but it will also add some new units to the lineup. Also, the new model will have some important changes concerning its interior, so the new Malibu will surely be a treat once it has its release. The possible cabin changes include more space, more luxurious feel and new optional equipment. The Malibu is already a well-established brand, but with the changes the new model might bring, it could easily become one of the best cars offered in its market segment.

2016 Chevrolet Malibu Exterior Redesign

The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will have a radical exterior redesign. The new model will keep only some small similarities to the current model. The new sedan will have a more modern and appealing look. The car will not be futuristic, though, or aggressive, but its new smooth lines and refined body shape will surely make an impact on you. The new sedan will have its front end quite redesigned, as it will feature a pair of new headlights, slightly restyled grille and a new fascia and hood. The side look will be more fluent and the sedan will have a very aerodynamic shape. Of course, the redesign will affect the rear end as well, which will fit perfectly with the appearance we see in the front. Since the new model hasn’t been presented yet, it might even look more impressive than we can conclude at the moment.

Platform Provides More Space

The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will keep its current platform. It is the GM’s Epsilon II platform which will be altered for the new model. This way, the new Malibu will offer more space, as the car’s dimensions will be changed. This change is particularly important in terms of rear-seats legroom, as the manufacturer received most complaints about this specific issue. Also, the new 2016 Malibu will have a redesigned interior, which will feature more quality materials, redesigned dashboard and an overall feel or a slightly more luxurious and elegant cabin.

2016 Chevrolet Malibu Powertrain Changes

The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will have its powertrain changed as well. The new model will keep its current engines, but it will also offer some new ones. To start with, the base engine will be a 2.5-liter inline-four unit that generates 196 horsepower while under the hood of the current model. Another “old” engine is the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, which generates 259 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque at the moment.  Both units should be tuned up to produce even more power when installed in the 2016 sedan, as well as provide better performance. The new engine will be a hybrid one that will use one turbocharged gas unit and an electric motor. Some rumors even claim that the new 2016 Chevy Malibu might get two possible hybrid powertrains, where one of them will provide decent specs, while the other will be more performance- and power-oriented.

2016 Chevrolet Malibu Release And Price

The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will be released by the end of the next year, though first units are expected to become available early in 2016. The new model should be a bit more expensive than the current one, given all the changes and improvements it brings. The estimated price for the sedan is set around $24,000, which is not that much considering the quality and benefits of driving the new model.
