The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V sedan had its premiere at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. For all those of you who aren’t familiar with the Cadillac nomenclature, the addition of the V letter to the model’s moniker means that that model is a performance-oriented version. Therefore, the new ATS-V sedan is a more powerful and more adventurous version of the regular ATS. However, the performance isn’t the only thing these two counterparts don’t have in common. The new 2016 Cadillac ATS-V sedan will also come with some smaller exterior changes, which will set it apart from the regular sedan, but also improve its performance at the same time. Moreover, the new 2016 Cadillac ATS-V will also come with an improved interior, new gadgets and gizmos and other interesting and fun new features. To sum up, the new Cadillac performance sedan will be a luxurious and impressive model once it is released, and it will surely represent a tough competition to all other models in its market niche.
2016 Cadillac ATS-V Sedan Appearance
As it is the case with all regular and performance-oriented models, the new 2016 Cadillac ATS-V will too come with some design changes compared to the ATS sedan. Its new design will not be radical or revolutionary; instead, all the tweaks and changes will only make the V model look more aggressive and sportier. Therefore, the new sedan will come with a new grille and front splitter, redesigned bumpers and new hood vents. These changes will make it look more racy and dominant, but they will also reduce its drag coefficient, which will improve the model’s performance. In addition, the new 2016 Cadillac ATS-V sedan will feature 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and Brembo brakes. Other details will remain the same as on the regular sedan, including the dimensions. The sedan is 184 inches long, 71.3 inches wide and 55.7 inches high, with the wheelbase 109.3 inches long. These measurements provide enough space and comfort inside the vehicle, but also, they provide enough stability, especially in sharp turns, which is very important when driving a performance model.
Interior Design & Perks
The interior of the new 2016 Cadillac ATS-V is just as impressive as its exterior. The new model features a well-equipped cabin and latest technology gadgets. Some of them are the Performance Data Recorder, which is a system that can record audio and video data while driving, CUE infotainment system or the latest OnStar 4G LTE system with an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot. In addition, the 2016 ATS-V comes with luxurious cabin, highest quality materials and an optional Recaro seats. Needless to mention that the design is topped up with chrome details which make the interior look posh, sporty and dominant. It is surely a delight to sit behind the ATS-V’s steering wheel and simply enjoy the ride.
2016 Cadillac ATS-V Powertrain & Performance
As for the powertrain, the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V comes with an impressive mill. It is powered by a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 unit that can generate an amazing 455 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. Neat, don’t you think? This unit can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission, for some true fun on the road, or an eight-speed automatic gearbox for a more relaxed and smoother drive. The same automatic transmission was used for the Corvette, so don’t think it is anything worse than the manual. Both of these come with a launch control and a limited-slip differential, therefore they both provide superb performance. The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V’s top speed is limited at 189 mph, while it accelerates to 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds. In addition, the new sedan comes with a Magnetic Ride Control magnetorheological adaptive suspension. Thanks to this suspension, the new model has an excellent performance as its dumpers have impressive response time and can adjust the model to the road condition more than 1,000 times per second.
Expected Release Date & Price Estimation
The new 2016 Cadillac ATS-V sedan will be released soon, though the exact release date hasn’t been set yet. As for the price, there are no official announcements at the moment, but according to some rumors, the new sedan should cost more than $60,000.
