The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V coupe will be released in the early 2015. The ATS-V coupe is a performance-oriented version of the regular ATS, which will also have a V version of the sedan model. Both the new coupe and sedan will have a similar treatment regarding the design language and certain performance aspects, but don’t expect them to look too much alike. After all, there is huge difference in their body shapes if nothing else. The 2016 ATS-V coupe will also differ its non-performance counterpart in its looks, as it will be more aerodynamic, fluent and aggressive. The new model will feature all the details, perks and gadgets you are used to seeing at this model, but on top of that, it will have an amazing power output. It seems that the manufacturer thought that installing a 425 horsepower engine under the hood of the new model is a child’s play, so they decided to go all in and make an even more powerful version of the famous ATS. That model will be called the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Plus trim, which will have an even more powerful engine that will produce more than aforementioned 425 horsepower.
2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Exterior
As for the appearance, the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V coupe will, in a way, have similar exterior design as its sedan counterpart. Both of these models will be designed using the same styling cues and basic ideas, but each of them will replicate it in its own way. The sedan will, apart from impressive powertrain, offer a more elegant and sophisticated feel, with smooth body lines and very spacious cabin. The experience of driving it will be comfortable, pleasant and a fun. On the other hand, the coupe model will have more aggressive approach to the matter. Its appearance will be intimidating, with fluent and clean body lines and a fearless front end. Driving a coupe will be more of an adrenaline rush, where the driver feels each of the cars’ movements, and really feels all it can do. Bear in mind, neither of the models, and this especially goes for the coupe, is meant for the faint-hearted.
Platform, Specs And Performance
The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V coupe will use the GM Alpha platform. The latter is made out of lightweight materials, but it does provide the car with necessary support. The platform is really stiff, but also very light, which has a great impact on the vehicle’s fuel economy, and more importantly, its performance. Such platform will affect its agility, stability and power. The new coupe will use a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 engine that can produce 425 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. As for the transmission, the new model will use a seven-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the legendary eight-speed automatic will be offered as an option. The new coupe will feature an additional trim level, the aforementioned 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Plus. This trim will use an even more powerful engine which is said to be capable of generating more than 500 horsepower which will leave all its competition behind in the dust. Currently, however, there are no more data available about this unit.
