The 2016 Buick Cascada had its premiere at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The new model finally arrived at the U.S.-market after a 25-year long pause, and was received quite warmly. The similar model, the Opel Cascada, has been available across the pond since 2013 and it was about time that a similar model was introduced here. The new droptop two-row convertible offers clean and smooth style, excellent interior with a lot of space and equipment and a decent powertrain. The new 2016 Cascada isn’t trying to be presumptuous – it is elegant, beautiful and stunning in all its simplicity. To sweeten the deal, the new 2016 Buick Cascada will keep its price affordable, as it is not one of those posh and over-the-top models with details, gadgets and whatnot’s which blind your sight (and judgement) the moment you see them. Therefore, it will represent a true refreshment once its hits the market. The convertible should be available at the beginning of the next year.
The 2016 Buick Cascada will come with simple, but elegant appearance. Truth be told, its style does resemble the exterior design seen on the Opel counterpart, but the Buick version seems to bring more refinement and serenity. The new convertible shares some of the design cues with its oversee-sibling, but they are perfectly blended with the recognizable Buick touches. The new model will, therefore, feature the waterfall grille, fluent body lines, LED headlights and taillights and wing-shaped LED daytime running lights.
The new 2016 Buick Cascada is 184.9 inches long with the 106.1-inch wheelbase, 72.4 inches wide and 56.8 inches high. The front and rear tracks are both 62.5 inches wide. The new convertible features standard 20-inch wheels.
The 2016 Buick Cascada’s electro-hydraulic multilayer soft top takes 17 seconds to open at a speed of up to 31 mph. The total space the top takes up when folded is 3.6 cu-ft, while the total of free truck space is 13.4 cu-ft with the top up and 9.8 cu-ft of cargo room with the top down.
Interior Design & Features
The 2016 Buick Cascada comes with an elegant and comfortable cabin. The convertible’s interior design is sleek and smooth, partially resembling the one used for the Verano, especially when it comes to a flat-bottomed heated steering wheel. The new convertible also features heated front seats, unique stitching and a modern and packed-full dashboard. The cabin is cozy and comfortable and can easily fit four adults in its 2+2 layout.
As for the equipment, the 2016 Buick Cascada will use a seven-inch IntelliLink display with OnStar 4G LTE system with a Wi-Fi hotspot.
2016 Buick Cascada Powertrain
The 2016 Buick Cascada will be powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that can generate 200 horsepower and approximately 206 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be paired with the six-speed automatic transmission and will come with the front-wheel drive only.
The new convertible will also feature the overboost system which can generate around 221 lb-ft of torque for a short period of time. In addition, the new model uses the HiPer Strut front suspension which improves its handling and is also used for the Regal and LaCrosse. The 2016 Cascada is also coming with the Watts Z-link design for better rear axle centering.
Release Date & Estimated Price
After the debut at the 2015 NAIAS, the new 2016 Cascada will be release early next year. The pricing still hasn’t been announced, but some sources claim that the new model will cost just above $25,000 for the entry level. However, we will know more about it later during the year.
