The 2016 BMW M2 Coupe has already gone into production at BMW’s factory in Germany. While the prices for the model in the UK and Europe have already been announced, the U.S.-model pricing list is still unknown. It should be announced after its debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. However, all the other details about the new coupe are announced. The 2016 BMW M2 Coupe is going to be an excellent, drive-oriented model. It is heavily based on the M235i, but comes with a more menacing and aggressive behavior. The powertrain setup used for the new 2016 M2 Coupe is really powerful, with fantastic performance, and the exterior design depicts it perfectly. Even though the new model will follow some basic BMW design cues, and will borrow some of its features from other models in the family, it will be an interesting option of the market all thanks to its road behavior. The new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe was designed as a racy, aggressive and agile coupe, and it should bring a lot of fun to its users. Let’s take a closer look at it.
2016 BMW M2 Coupe Design
The new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe will come with an aggressive and interesting design. The new model will follow the basic design lines used on all BMW models. However, it will also come with some unique and kickass details. At the first glance, the new 2016 M2 might look familiar. Aside from being based on the M235i model, the new M2 Coupe also resembles its bigger sibling, the M4. On the other side, the new coupe has a much more aggressive stance. The body shape is really aerodynamic and powerful, giving the new model a bit bulky appearance. The front end is quite similar to M235i, with twin-kidney grille and headlights, while the rear end is more unique. It features revised bumper, huge air intakes and taillights. The design is finished with sporty 19-inch wheels.
The 2016 BMW M2 Coupe will be offered in four colours: Long Beach Blue, Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic and Mineral Grey Metallic.
Interior-wise, the new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe comes with a classic racy cabin. The design is sleek and driver-oriented, packed with M-badges and details. The new model features special sport seats instead of standard ones, wrapped in Dakota leather. Both the seats and the steering wheel come with the Dakota black leather and contrast blue stitching. In addition, the new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe will come with a typical 2-Series dashboard. However, the new dashboard will feature some carbon-fiber elements, which should make it look more aggressive and attractive.
As for the equipment, the new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe will be fully equipped, as expected. The new sports coupe will come with a wide array of safety and entertainment systems. We shall mention only a couple of more interesting ones. The 2016 M2 Coupe will feature a GoPro app, which can be navigated through the iDrive touch. This app allows the driver to record its track laps and later review them on the car’s Control Display. Another awesome feature is the M Laptimer, which keeps track of all the important race-oriented parameters: car speed, fuel consumption, longitudinal and lateral acceleration, steering angle etc.
Other interesting features are: Brake Energy Regeneration, electromechanical power steering, Automatic Start/Stop function, intelligent lightweight construction, on-demand operation of ancillary units, differential with optimized-warm-up behavior, map-regulated oil pump etc.
2016 BMW M2 Coupe Powertrain Setup
The new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe is going to be powered with excellent setups. The engine is a 3.0-liter straight six-cylinder engine which produces 365 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 343 lb-ft of torque available at 1,400 rpm. The engine is paired with either standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe speeds up to 60 mph from a standstill in 4.5 seconds (manual gearbox model) or 4.3 seconds (automatic gearbox version). Top speed is electronically limited at 155 mph.
The 2016 BMW M2 Coupe comes with BMW Active M Differential system which improved the car’s stability and traction. This system is also very useful on poor weather and wet road, as it prevents the model from going off track by controlling wheel spins.
Release Date & Prices
The 2016 BMW M2 Coupe should debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show and should be released in the spring next year. Its production already started. The UK- and Europe- prices have already been announced, starting from £44,070 and €56,700 respectively. The U.S.-model pricing is still unknown. However, some sources predict the new model’s price to start at around $51,000.
