Name Inspiration

The 2016 Bentley Bentayga was named after a rugged peak in the Canary Islands, called the ‘Rogue Bentayga’. The name is quite different from any other in the Bentley nomenclature, as well as rival’s name giving habits, so it will surely stand out. Also, the name Bentley Bentayga is rather catchy, and the manufacturer states it perfectly depicts the character of their new SUV – the model will feature both the outstanding and rough performance as well as elegant and refined style.

Exterior & Interior Design Rumors

The 2016 Bentley Bentayga exterior design is kept as a secret at the moment. Some of the sources have got a few snapshots of the camouflaged model being tested, but those photos show very little of the new design. According to some rumors, the 2016 Bentayga will have a similar shape and side design as the EXP 9 F SUV Concept which had its premiere at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, while the front and the rear end will be quite altered to offer a more attractive appearance. In addition, the new model is rumored to come with a lightweight aluminum platform, which will surely have a positive impact on the model’s performance. The same architecture is also used to underpin some other models, such as Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini SUVs. In addition, the luxury SUV will come with a similar interior design as the aforementioned concept – needless to say it will feature only the highest quality materials, newest technological gadgets and an impressive overall design.

2016 Bentley Bentayga Powertrain Speculations

This engine, the 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 unit has been confirmed for the 2016 Bentayga, and will come with an outstanding performance. Reportedly, it will generate over 600 horsepower and will offer a top speed of an impressive 200 mph, leaving all of its competition humiliated. Another engine option will be a VW Group twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 unit, which will be offered with the entry level model. As for the hybrid setup, this crossover will be released one year after the 2016 Bentley Bentayga, so the details about it are unknown at the moment. However, some sources believe the 2016 Bentayga PHEV will use the same drivetrain used for the Mulsanne Hybrid Concept, combining the gasoline engine and an electric motor.
