By | 10/14/2014

The 2016 Audi A5 Coupe will be released early next year. The new model will bring numerous updates and changes. Though the 2016 model will not represent a fully-redesigned model, it will be far from just a slightly updated version. To start with, the new model will use a new architecture. The 2015 A5 Coupe platform will be light and it will improve the model’s performance. Also, the new coupe will have an updated appearance. Though the design will follow the basic lines used for every Audi model, the new coupe will also have some details of its own, which will make it even more attractive and fun. The interior of the car will also be improved, both style- and equipment-wise. As for the powertrain, the 2016 engine options are the reason why we wouldn’t call this model a full redesign. Reportedly, the new 2016 Audi A5 Coupe will keep its current powertrain options. There will be no new unit, but the manufacturer did say that the old ones will be improved. Allegedly, they will be more powerful and more fuel efficient.

2016 Audi A5 Coupe Appearance

The 2016 Audi A5 Coupe will have an updated and modern appearance. Though the design is not fully changed, it certainly has a new appeal. The new model will feature a restyled grille, a pair of improved headlights, new larger air intakes and a bit changed bumpers. Though one may argue that these changes are not that drastic, they really do make a difference. With them, the new coupe look more aggressive and dominant, while at the same time not diverging from the current general Audi design. In addition, the 2016 A5 Coupe will use a new MLB Evo platform, which will bring a few extra perks. Firstly, the platform is made out of lightweight materials, which will decrease the model’s weight. This way the car will be more fuel efficient and, even with no powertrain changes whatsoever, it would have improved performance. Secondly, the new platform will be bigger than the current one. This will provide more comfort and space inside the cabin, but also, it means that the new coupe will have a longer wheelbase. With this change the car will have an improved stability on the road, it will be more precise handling the turns and more agile.

This model will be powered by a twin-turbo V6 mill which will actually change the current V8 unit. It will be capable of delivering 475 horsepower. All units will have improved fuel efficiency, thanks to the new platform and some small tweaking done on them. As for the transmission, the new coupe will offer a six-speed manual as standard and an optional eight-speed automatic gearbox. The front-wheel drive will be a standard, but the all-wheel drive will be offered, as well.
