The 2015 Nissan Sentra has just been released as the manufacturer announced its U.S. pricing on the last day of the past year. The new model will come with some smaller changes compared to the current model, so don’t expect any extreme redesign. Since the sedan was fully improved back in 2012, the manufacturer decided not to repeat that move for at least one more year. Instead, the 2015 Sentra will only feature some smaller improvements. Reportedly, the new model will come with a slightly updated exterior and interior design, more standard equipment than before and the same old powertrain. These changes are really not that big – or important for that matter – but if you take into an account the fact that Sentra is the most spacious and one of the most fuel efficient models on the market, maybe it doesn’t need any elaborate redesign. The sedan should be perfectly capable of attracting families and buyers who look for comfort rather than power on its own. The new model is already available in the Nissan dealerships nationwide.
Exterior Changes for 2015 Sedan
The 2015 Nissan Sentra will come with some smaller exterior changes. The new model will look updated and more modern in comparison to its current counterpart, but these changes will be modest. The new sedan will come with some design details seen on the Altima, and even some Infiniti models, so the Sentra will be more attractive and appealing than some other sedans on the market. In addition, the new model will be offered in four new colors – the Titanium, Cayenne Red, Fresh Powder and Red Alert (which comes with SR trim only) – making a total of 11 nuances offered.
However, the exterior design will not be its strongest suit. The 2015 Nissan Sentra is known for its outstanding comfort. The dimensions of the new model are slightly increased, so the new model now offers most front and rear legroom on the market, as well as the most trunk space. This is really important, as many buyers put space and comfort at the top of their priority list, so this feature should improve the model’s sales.
Trim Options for 2015 Nissan Sentra
The new 2015 Nissan Sentra will offer coupe of trim levels with improved standard equipment. The Sentra S now comes with standard USB connection, Smart Auto Headlights, cruise control, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System and illuminated steering wheel audio controls. The SV trim will offer even more – its standard equipment will now be the same as the Driver Package, which was optional so far. This means that the new 2015 Sentra SV features RearView Monitor, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (without subscription), Nissan Intelligent Key, 5.0-inch color display, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, sliding front armrest, leather steering wheel and shift knob, Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant, Smart Auto Headlights and much more. The SR trim, which is the sports variant for the new Sentra, also got the full Driver Package as standard as well as heated front seats and outside mirrors. Also, it comes with the LED turn signal indicators on the outside mirrors.
The most advanced trim, the 2015 Nissan Sentra SL will feature all of the aforementioned, as well as leather seats, heated front seats, automatically dimming mirror and many other features which will make the interior look more luxurious and elegant.
The 2015 Nissan Sentra will use its current powertrain. The sedan will be powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four engine capable of generating 130 horsepower and 6,000 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. As for the transmission, the new model will offer a standard six-speed manual transmission, available with the S trim only, and an Xtronic CVT gearbox.
Pricing for New Sedan
The 2015 Nissan Sentra S with manual transmission will cost from $16,480, while the same trim with the Xtronic CVT will cost $17,330. All the other trims come with Xtronic CVT exclusively and cost from $18,300 for the SV trim, $19,910 for the Sentra SR and $20,670 for the Sentra SL. The FE+ S trim price (a fuel efficiency oriented model) will start at $17,730.
