2015 Mitsubishi Pajero — Diesel, Hybrid & V-6

By | 04/02/2014

The 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero will be the last of this model will see. The Mitsubishi is going to complete change Pajero for the 2016 model year. This means two things. Firstly, the 2015 model will have some minor upgrades, since there is no point in doing a major redesign if they are leaving the concept we can saw in previous versions. Secondly, the new 2016 Pajero will have little resemblance with the 2015 model. It will probably use some of the new concepts presented at the Tokyo Motor Show a year ago. These concepts are XR-PHEW SUV, GC-PHEW full-size SUV and an AR, an “Active Runabout” with smaller engine and a turbocharged direct-inject. Of course, none of these concepts will be implemented before undertaking a huge number of tests, so these concepts we saw last year are still a work in progress. We can only speculate what the 2016 Pajero would be like, but the 2015 one is here, so while we wait for the 2016, let’s have a look at it.

2015 Mitsubishi Pajero Appearance

The 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero exterior isn’t fully revealed yet. The relevant source claim it will keep some of the details the old model had, but also it will mostly have the GC-PHEW concept implemented. When you take a second to think about this, it is a very logical solution. Since it will be the last model to have a concept we all know and love, it should keep the appearance that will remind us of it. On the other hand, there is no need for Mitsubishi to wait until the 2016 model to test the new idea. This way, they will have the best of both of this solution, and by seeing the reactions the buyers will have on the 2015 Pajero, they will get a valuable information on how to approach the 2016 model’s design.

2015 Mitsubishi Pajero Engine Options — Hybrid And Diesel

The certain thing about the 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero is the one concerning the powertrain. There will be three engines as options. The base one is the 3.0-liter V-6 supercharged engine paired with the eight-speed transmission. The second option will be the 2.5-liter turbo diesel engine which produces 178 horsepower and 295lb-ft of torque. Finally, the most eco-friendly option will be the hybrid version. It will have a 1.0-liter engine as well as an electric motor. It is said it will have high-capacity batteries, but this is still to be seen, and our opinion is that not many buyers will go for this option with the basic one being more than enough. In addition, the diesel option will only be available in India, which is a call we expect to change by the release date. For now, both date and price of the 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero stay unannounced.
