The 2015 Jeep Renegade has been presented to us at this year’s Geneva Auto Show. The new model will have a more modern, attractive look. The target buyers for this CUV are obviously young and urban drivers. But a good look isn’t all the new 2015 Jeepster brings. It will have quite a number of changed details. To start with, the new Renegade will have a new platform; the same one used for Fiat 500L and it will be manufactured in Italy. It will also have a new improved 4×4 all-wheel drive so it will be fit to drive on all terrains. In addition, the rear axle can be disconnected when all-wheel drive is not necessary, so that the fuel consumption can be more economic and efficient. The new 2015 Jeep Renegade does come as a changed car, with some changes that might even turn out to be downsides, but we find little reason for concern. We are sure that, given this is a CUV primarily meant for cities and urban landscape, it will satisfy the needs of any buyer who is looking for a reliable, fun and modern CUV.
2015 Jeep Renegade SCCS Platform
The 2015 Jeep Renegade will share its platform with Fiat 500L. This platform is called SCCS, which stands for Small Common Components and Systems. It is made of very strong steel and is most used with a front-wheel drive, but it can also be used with the AWD. It is not the lightest platform on the market, which means it adds some pounds, but we are sure it will do better than fine in the new Renegade. As for the more obvious, aesthetic changes, we are certain everyone will be pleased with the exterior the new model is bringing. After all, it is made in Italy and their design is flawless. The new model will look modern, sporty and fierce. The interior is also very satisfying. It is very elegant and sleek, but at the same time is futuristic and dominant. The new model will have a look of buttons, gadgets and systems that will be easy to use, very functional and will come in handy for a safe, enjoyable and fun ride. The UConnect and UConnect Access connectivity system it uses have also been updated. To top it all, each trim level will have a removable roof panel.
2015 Jeep Renegade Engines And Transmission
The 2015 Jeep Renegade will have few engines available. The first one is the turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 168 horsepower and 184lb-ft of torque. Another option is a more powerful 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine which produces 184 horsepower and 177lb-ft of torque. There are two diesel engines that also might be offered. The first one is the 1.3-liter turbodiesel and the other one is a 0.9-liter TwinAir turbodiesel engine. Bear in mind, though, they will probably be available only for the European market. As for the transmission, the new 2015 Jeep Renegade will use a 6-speed manual gearshift as a standard choice, while the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be offered as an option. A big surprise, and a downsize as well, is the fact that the front-wheel drive will be the standard drivetrain, while the 4×4 AWD is an optional one.
2015 Jeep Renegade Price
Like we mentioned before, the 2015 Jeep Renegade was presented at the Geneva Auto Show. We expect it to be released by the end of this year. The 2015 Jeep Renegade will probably cost around $19,000. This is not official information, though, so don’t get surprised if the price varies from the aforementioned.
