By | 01/22/2015

The 2015 Alfa Romeo C4 Spider had its premiere at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The new model is a really interesting roadster, designed for people with good taste and in search of some fun. The design is unique, bold and attractive; the new model really stands out from the crowd. Also, it was made using some quite innovative technologies and materials, so the model is really lightweight and therefore, comes with a better performance than the one might have expected. In addition, thanks to roadster’s new light body and details, the manufacturer was able to use an engine with smaller displacement without worrying whether it will affect the car’s performance or not. The smaller the engine, the less fuel it consumes, naturally, but this particular unit also offers an unexpectedly high power output. Add to that a modern and fully equipped cabin, and you will get a splendid new supercar.

Appearance & Design

As you can see from the photos below, the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider looks really unique. Its design was based on the appearance of the 4C Coupe, but we must say that the new supercar truly stands out from its competition. It is designed to look modern and adventurous, since it is meant for the drivers with the same traits. That’s why this is not a car for everybody – not everyone will be able to recognize its potential. The open-top version of the 4C model share quite a number of design cues with the latter, but it also comes with a shape of its own, making it more distinctive and assertive. This is a proper roadster for younger and more urban customers, and we are sure its success on the market will be noticeable.

Bodywork & New Technological Solutions to Reduce Weight

The 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider comes with some very interesting features. The roadster is designed using some rather innovative technological solutions which should help it maximize its performance. To start with, the 2015 4C Spider lies on a 236-pounds carbon-fiber monocoque chassis which is three times stronger and seven times lighter than the steel one. In addition, the body is made out of SMC, which stands for sheet molded compound. That is a really lightweight composite material which is very tough and 20 percent lighter than steel. But that’s not all. To reduce the weight of the car even more, the manufacturer installed a 10 percent thinner glass, which reduced the weight by 15 percent. Don’t worry, the windows are still strong enough.
