2015 Acura MDX Luxury SUV Proves Its Class

By | 04/01/2014

The 2015 Acura MDX comes as a refreshed version of the 2014 model. It will keep its old platform, which means it will stay spacious and comfortable, and most of the changes will be minor and not so important. With the success the 2014 model made, there is really no need for the Acura to go crazy on the redesign of this year’s version. This mid-size SUV is a powerful, elegant vehicle aiming for the top of the list in its class. The new improvements will only help it achieve its goal faster. Other novelties included to this vehicle are some of the features seen on the 2015 Honda Pilot. Overall, the new 2015 Acura MDX is a fantastic new SUV and we are sure it will keep its share of the market (which is not small at all) in the years to come.

2015 Acura MDX  Changes Regarding Appearance And Style

The 2015 Acura MDX kept its sleek, amazing look. Some minor changes have been made, but they don’t make much of a difference. In addition, the new MDX is the first mid-size SUV that’s got three rows of seat. This means there is even more space inside. Furthermore, the Canadian fans are also honored by real wood elements inside and with power folding mirrors. This, of course, means it will cost more there, but this is a more luxurious version of the same vehicle, so that’s a very logical move.  There is no official information whether the U.S. market will have the same offer. Also, some of the updates could be new body colors and smaller details, but don’t expect anything radical. That is just not the Honda style. As for the Japan and Australian market, the only difference between the offers is the name. The 2015 Acura MDX is a 2015 Honda MDX there. This is important due to the fact this SUV holds a big share of their market even though it was originally made for the North American one.

2015 Acura MDX V-6 Engine, Transmission, Drive & EPA Fuel Economy

As for the powertrain, the 2015 Acura MDX brings no changes. The old engine, seen in the 2014 Acura MDX, will also be used in the new model. It’s the 3.5-liter V-6 SOHC i-VTEC engine with Variable Cylinder Management. It can generate up to 290 horsepower and 267lb-fr of torque. The transmission paired with the engine is the 6-speed automatic. Both front-wheel drive and SH-AWD are available. Depending on the choice you make between these two options, the fuel economy figures change. With FWD, the consumption is 20mpg/city, 23mpg/combined and 28mpg/highway while the SH-AWD uses 18mpg/city, 27mpg/highway and 21mpg/combined. In addition, the new aerodynamics improved the performance significantly. Also, the 2015 Acura MDX is made of light, strong materials, such as high-strength steel, aluminum and magnesium. Due to this, the car weighs less and is much faster. This is an important update, since it affects the performance of the SUV. The Acura obviously focused on the more important parts of the vehicle than its looks are.

2015 Acura MDX Interior, Safety And Comfort

As for the interior, the 2015 Acura MDX will have high quality materials, heated adjustable front seats, optional sunroof, leather upholstery etc. In addition, it will have a keyless entry and ignition, phone connectivity and an astonishing audio system. The safety is well covered as well. There are systems like Lane Departure Alert, Forward Collision Warning System, Blind-zone Warning and similar which provide the driver and passengers with enough information to keep them safe. All this is due to Honda’s wish to enter the market of luxurious vehicle. The MDX is the perfect SUV to try something like that with. It is spacious, well-equipped, it has all the luxurious features and an appealing exterior. The only thing uncertain about it is its release date. We expect it to happen by the beginning of the next year, but there is also a possibility it might happen by this autumn. As for the price, it is still unknown. Regardless of the possible amount of money you’ll have to set aside in order to have this SUV, we are sure you won’t be sorry. A vast number of satisfied buyers and MDX fans around the world should prove our previous point.
